Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Moggie, why don’t you leave your art alone?”- I will when I’m happy with it. I wasn’t happy at all with the original request for my friend so I redone it, rather oddly in coloured pencil.

Oddly for this is the first piece of coloured pencil work that made its way onto my site.

I’ve nothing against coloured pencils I just have very little experience with them and have very little understanding of how they work. Or how you use them.
Or anything beyond “Woah, these Polychromos are fancy!” So, yeah, I decided that I could try redoing this fine feline in them, and while it’s far from purrfect I rather enjoy the style and how it has all come together. (Oh the puns!)

You see this is why I won’t usually do work for other people. Unless it’s paid work. Usually with paid work people are “I like this”, then they pay, then you don’t feel bad because it’s what they wanted as they approved it.

But with requests- oh boy.

I always want it to look super good, you know? Which is why it bothers me sometimes when I see the limitation of my style/experience coming through. I really want it to be the best I can do and often, as with my own work, it’s falls a little short.
Something about it just doesn’t work out. Something looks a little out of place.

That said, I am pretty pleased about this and I’m really glad that I took the time out to attempt it for a second time. It has qualities, good ones, and brings new media to the table, so it’s a pretty good addition to the site and I think it looks a lot more like a cat this time. Not to mention, I do love cat noses.

Not really sure why- but I do.

Have a nice evening, all!

Moggie.
